How many times did Israel march around Jericho? Once a day for six days, and seven times on the seventh day

Who led the march? The advance guard (Judah)

What happened when the people shouted after going around the seventh time on the seventh day? The walls fell flat

If God already had given Jericho into Israel’s hand, why did Israel have to do something? God said so; it was by faith that worked

What was forbidden in the taking of Jericho? To take any spoils

What curse did Joshua put on the city of Jericho? Its foundation be laid with the death of the firstborn and the gates be set up with the death of the youngest son of the man who rebuilds Jericho

Why did Israel lose the battle against Ai? Someone had taken something for himself from Jericho

Who was guilty of the sin that brought trouble upon all of Israel? Achan (his name means trouble)

According to 7:21, what is the process of temptation and sin? He saw, he coveted, he took, he hid

What happened to the guilty man? He and all his house were stoned, then burned up, and covered with a great amount of stones

What happened to his family? The same thing

How many men did Joshua use in the second battle against Ai? 5000 to capture Ai; 30,000 to attack the pursuit, and the rest were decoys

How did the Israelites capture the Canaanites in the open plain? The Israelites let the them chase them into the wilderness, then the 5000 took the undefended city, then the Canaanites stopped pursuing when they saw their city on fire, then all the army of Israel turned on them

What command did Israel keep after conquering Ai? They made the altar at Mt. Ebal, wrote the law on large stones, offered sacrifices, and pronounced the blessings and curses at the reading of the law
