Answers to March 13 Questions

What blessings would Israel receive if they keep God’s commands? They would enjoy long life; also, they would increase greatly in the new land

What command is in 6:5? You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, and strength

How is Israel to show love for God (see the rest of chapter 6)? By diligently obeying God’s commands, by diligently teaching their children at every opportunity; by not forgetting God when He has blessed them with abundance; by fearing God and having no other gods; by not doubting or testing God

What did Israel have to do to the nations in Canaan? Destroy them completely, including all remants of their idolatry; make no compromises with them such as intermarriage

Why? Because Israel is to be a holy people for God

Did Israel deserve the land which God was giving them? no

Then why did God give it to them? Because of His promise to Abraham and His love for Israel

According to chapter 7, how would the Lord bless Israel’s obedience? He would keep His covenant of love with them; He would cause them to multiply, along with their flocks, herds, crops; they all would have the ability to reproduce; they would be free of the diseases that afflicted Egypt; their enemies would be afflicted with those diseases

Of what did Moses remind the Israelites so they would not be afraid to fight in Canaan? God’s great power and signs through the ten plagues on Egypt

According to 8:3-5, why did God test Israel? To humble them; to teach them not to live by bread alone but by God’s word; to discipline them

What warning did Moses give Israel in chapter 8? They would be destroyed if they forget God and serve other gods
