Introductory note: Job lived in the time of the patriarchs, so we will read the book of Job before the book of Exodus. The book is largely a discussion between Job and his three friends. Elihu speaks near the end, and God Himself speaks at the end. Job is full of emotion because of his intense anguish and suffering. He desires to communicate with God to find an explanation and a solution to his concerns. Like all the books of the Old Testament, this book prepares people for the Messiah to come. Job does this by expressing the spiritual needs that he has. The New Testament reveals that God fulfills all these spiritual yearnings through in Jesus Christ.
