Answers to January 22 Questions

What is Zophar’s attitude toward Job? He isn’t suffering nearly as much as he deserves to suffer!

According to Zophar what has God done with some of Job’s sin? God has forgotten some of Job’s sin.

Is there anything with which you don’t agree in verses 7 through 11? no

Is there anything wrong in what Zophar says in verses 13 through 20? What Zophar says is not wrong in and of itself except that he applies it to Job when it does not apply to Job’s case.

What does Job mean in verse 12:2? Job makes a sarcastic comment that his friends are the only wise people to ever live.

Is what Job says in verse 6 true? Not in the ultimate sense, but there are sinners who so not seem to be suffering too much materially.

How does this compare to the observations of Eliphaz in 4:8? It appears to be the exact opposite of Eliphaz. Neither is an absolute universal observation.

What is Job’s point in 12:7-25? God has all the wisdom so we cannot stand up to Him.

Job says that his friends could have helped him more by doing what (13:4-5)? By keeping silent

Does Job think that his friends are representing God accurately? No (13:7-12)

What is Job saying in 13:15-19? He uses boldness to express his confidence in God’s justice. Even if God killed him, he knew that he was innocent and undeserving of death. This is his hope.

What two things does Job want God to do? Stop causing him to suffer and give him a hearing

How does Job feel in 14:1-6? He feels that life is meaningless because it is full of trouble and sorrow

What is Job’s big question in 14:7-22? If a man dies, will he live again?

How would you answer that question? Yes, Jesus proved that by rising from the dead. He is the resurrection and the life. If Job dies, he will live again. Job does feel that hope, and that is one reason he maintained his integrity after he lost everything else.
