Answers to January 3 Questions

What did God plan to do within 120 years? Why? To put an end to man’s time on earth. Man thought only of evil continually and filled the earth with violence

Who found grace in the eyes of the Lord? Why? Noah, because he was righteous, blameless, and walked with God

List the specific instructions God gave concerning the ark:
Materials to use gopher wood and pitch
Dimensions 300 cubits long, 50 cubits wide, 30 cubits high
Number of floors three
Doors and windows one window and one door
Occupants two of each animal; seven of clean animals, his family (him, his wife, his three sons and their wives

Where did the water come from to flood the earth? From the waters above the firmament and the springs of the great deep were broken up

How long did they stay on the ark? One year and ten days (7:11 and 8:14)

What was the first thing they did when they exited the ark? They offered sacrifices

What was God’s reaction? God was pleased and promised not to destroy the world with water again

What did God permit for food? Every animal

What did God prohibit to be eaten? Blood. This prohibition is also in the new covenant

What sign did God make for the agreement he made with Noah? The rainbow

How did Noah sin later? He got drunk and exposed his nakedness

Who was cursed in connection with Noah’s sin? Canaan, because of his father Ham This curse obviously has Israel’s inheritance of the Promised Land in mind
