What did God promise if Israel keeps His commandments? God would give rain and cause their crops to grow so they would have plenty to eat; they would easily defeat their enemies and have peace in their land; they would have such an abundance of food that they would not run out before the following year’s harvest; most of all, God promised to be in their midst
What did God say would happen if Israel did not obey Him? They would syffer diseases of all sorts; their enemies would occupy their land and steal their crops; they would become fearful; He would withhold the rain for chastening; He would chasten them with wild animals and the people would be few in number; He would then chasten them with the sword and pestilence and there would be food shortages; it would get so bad that they would eat their own children; He would make the land desolate and the people would be scattered and driven from the land and die in a foreign land.
What conditions for restoration are given in chapter 26? After they have humbled themselves and confessed that they have sinned and that they deserve the consequences God put on them; the land would also have to rest for the Sabbath years that they did not respect
