Psalm 37
What is God’s promise in verse 4? He will give you the desires of your heart
What is the condition of that promise? Delight yourself in the Lord
What else does verse 7 require? Rest in the Lord and wait patiently for Him

What comparison does verse 16 make? The little that the righteous has is much better than the abundance of many wicked people
What do the wicked do in verse 21? They borrow and do not repay
What is the point in verse 25? God provides for the righteous; they won’t have to beg
What is the theme of this psalm (repeated in verse 34)? Waiting on the Lord and doing His will will be rewarded with an inheritance from God
Psalm 38
What does David pray for in Psalm 38? Mercy in the chastening he receives for his wrongs
What consequences does David see because of his sin? His friends and family avoid him; his enemies set traps for him’ they have multiplied; his is sorry continually
Psalm 39
Why did David try to remain silent? So he would not sin with his tongue
What did he ask the Lord to teach him? To understand the brevity and frailty of life
What did David imply was the cause of his suffering in Psalm 39? His own sin
Psalm 40
What happened to David? He was in the grasp of death
What is contrasted in verses 6-8? Sacrifices and worship with doing God’s will and obedience
What does David not hide within? God’s righteousness, faithfulness, lovingkindness, and truth
What is the attitude of David’s enemies toward his troubles? They wish him evil and rejoice
Psalm 41
Who does God help in his trouble? The poor
What do David’s enemies do to him? They lie to him, they whisper against him
What did his close friend do? Lifted up his heel against him
What does God do for him because of his integrity? Not let his enemies triumph over him and puts him in His presence forever
