Psalm 145
What is the purpose of Psalm 145? Praise to God for all His mighty works
How is God described in verses 8 and 9? Gracious, full of compassion, merciful, good, slow to anger
What lesson should we learn from verses 13-16? God is faithful to His promises, His time is the right time for His deeds
How must we call on the Lord to be near Him? In truth, with fear and love
Psalm 146
Who should not be trusted? Princes or any men
Why can we trust the Lord? He is Creator (has power), He is good, and He rules forever (is eternal and is in control)
Psalm 147
How is God’s compassion demonstrated? He gathers the exiles back to Jerusalem and heals the brokenhearted
How is God’s knowledge demonstrated? He numbers and names all the stars
How is God’s goodness demonstrated? He sustains the humble; He provides food for the animals
What is His delight? Those who fear Him and trust in His love for them
What is the lesson in verses 15-20? God’s authority as expressed in His word has positive effect in creation and in His special relation to Israel
Psalm 148
Who (and what) is to praise the Lord? Angels and all spiritual beings in the heavenly realm, sun, moon, stars, waters above the skies, the sky; creatures in the oceans; snow, hail, lightning, wind, clouds in the air; mountains, hills, fruit trees and cedars; beasts, cattle, creeping things, and birds; all people, kings, princes, judges, young men and women, old men and very young children
Whose name is exalted above every name? the name of the Lord (see Philippians 2:9-11)
Psalm 149
Who is to praise God as Psalm 149 says? Israel, the people of Zion
What is to accompany their praise to God? List all. Dancing, tambourine, harp, a two-edged sword
Psalm 150
Where is the Lord to be praised? In His sanctuary in the heavens
With what is the Lord to be praised? Trumpet, harp, lyre, tambourine, dancing, strings, flute, cymbals
Who is to praise the Lord? Everything that has breath
